Hello blog fans.  Yes, it has been a long time since I’ve given you some personal pearls of wisdom. Well, I apologize, but I’ve been a bit busy trying to get things in order. I’m sure you all can relate.  A few weeks ago I happened to catch Joel Osteen on television – And his message was dealing with going through all the “no’s” in your life in order to get to your “yes.” His message was very profound and right on time for me.  I’ve been hitting a bunch of “no’s” (as it relates to landing a new job) since being laid off back in September 2011. I never thought I was going to get to my “yes.”  During his message, Osteen stated, “Imagine if God told us how many ‘No’s” we had to go through just to get to that “yes” – we most likely would not give up. ” If God told me back in September, “Kim you are going to go through 20 “NO’s” (job rejections) before you get to that “yes”  (a new job).  I promise you I would not be sweating at all. I would be like, “Ok this is “NO” number 10, I got 10 more to go before I land my new job.” Well, unfortunately God doesn’t work like that. This is why we have to have faith. Faith and trust that he’s got us – no matter what it is.  Whether it be a job, a relationship, finances, health etc…you never know how close you are to that yes.

Now keep in mind, that it may take hours, days, months and even years to get to that “Yes” – and at times that “Yes” may not be exactly what you want it to be, but trust me it will be what you need when you least expect it.  I say all this to say that I finally got to my “Yes” as it relates to a new job. I am thrilled that God placed me in the right situation. Over the last 8 months, I’ve had interviews after interviews. I’ve submitted resume after resume – and there were several jobs that I just knew I was going to get- but….God had another plan for me. There were days that I just cried because I didn’t know what God was planning for my life as it relates to getting another job.  I was tired of being BROKE and I knew that unemployment was going to run out soon. However, I had to remember that I am a child of God and that he’s got me. And I just had to trust him and wait on him to place me in the best possible situation.

I even had friends who questioned why I wanted to return back to Corporate America? Well, yes I am a business women and I am in the process of writing a second book and I have few other business ventures that I plan on launching. However, all of these projects need funding – and my plan is to fund all of these projects on my own. Therefore, I have to do what I got to do to set myself up for success so that I won’t have to go back to Corporate America anymore – if I don’t want to.  You see, I have a plan and I know that going back into the workforce is part of that plan that was designed just for me.  So if you are still unemployed, just know that you are one step closer to your “yes” it could be right around the corner – don’t give up and don’t lose faith. Show God that you trust him in all things –even with your job situation. The “no’s” in your life help to build character and give you tough skin and make you resilient. You can do it. Look at your “NO’s” as stepping stones to you’re your success.
